The journey begins
It’s impressive to see thirty tons of aluminum from Sterna hanging on the crane belts. Centuries of experience, thousands of designs, trials and errors precede the design of this open 85. That soon will fly through the waters of the North Sea way to the ends of the planet.
That sounds a bit epic. And that is a bit true. After the revising of the sea cocks and changing the propeller, Sterna is ready to begin its journey. All preparations, each set of instruments, each insulation of bulkheads, tuning the engine and sails, all beeing prepared for this day. The food has been stowed in the bow next to the new anchor chain. Sleeping bags have been placed in the bunks beds along with their corresponding pillows. The wetsuits for the passengers are arranged and in place. Every detail has been taken care for honoring the adventure that begins.
Austere, serene, Sterna let herself do. As a player before a match, it’s overlooking the dock concentrated. Sunday 25 May. We cast off. We raised the main sail at its highest. The journey begins.
